If it’s a camping adventure or if you want to explore the outback the best way is by hopping into your 4WD. You can easily pack your camping gear and fit everything in your car and just set out.
Now, this may sound simple, but the outback can be quite dangerous if you aren’t prepared. So, it is always recommended that you have the standard set of basic survivability and camping gear.
But what exactly is standard basic gear? And where can you find them?
If you walk into a camping gear store, you will be overwhelmed by the variety of supplies, equipment, and brands available. If you walk in unprepared you are bound to walk out with a hefty bill and things that you really don’t need.
Below are some of the basic essentials required for every camping adventure on your 4WD
Tents
Imagine you go out all day and engage in all types of activities only to return and find out that you forgot to pack a tent. This scenario is highly unlikely because the tent is one of the first camping gear anyone would buy or pack. This might not be true if you own a caravan or an RV.
Tents are available in all shapes and sizes. You can choose between easy set up compact tents and complicated sets with poles, stakes tarps, and tie-downs. If you want to use 4WD you might want to consider an awning.
Sleeping Bags
This too is common sense because after you figure out where you’re going to sleep the next logical step is to figure out what you’re going to sleep on.
You can technically sleep on the ground inside the tent, but it won’t be the best experience sleeping on the hard floor. Get yourself a decent sleeping bag or maybe a sleeping pad for a more comfortable experience.
Lighting
If you are not in a camping spot and instead chose to move into a remote area, then you might want to carry some lighting to illuminate your camping spot. LED torches, lanterns that are battery-operated, and electric gas lamps are a good choice.
First Aid Kit
The outback is quite wild, and you should always be prepared. A fully stocked first kid is always a good idea. Some things you can include are bandages, snake bite kits, insect repellents, disinfectants, etc.
Cooking Gear
You aren’t going to have uber eats deliver your food to the middle of, nowhere right? So, it’s quite important to have some cooking gear like a gas stove and some pots and pans. You can also fit a system of drawers for 4WD and 4×4, so that you can store all of this easily.
These are some of the basic equipment every camper must-have. There are also other things like rain gear or an esky but you can survive without these. However, the ones listed out on top are compulsory if you want a comfortable camping experience.
